2020: Year of Grim Reckoning
It seems clear that, in view of everything that has happened since January 1 of this year, 2020 is likely to be unhappily remembered (assuming that anyone actually remains to remember it) as a year of grim reckoning. A fateful year in which many common delusions were forcibly exposed and summarily crushed by a pandemic that could have been avoided, a pandemic whose painful effects have allowed the heinous truth of capitalism to be starkly revealed, beyond any rational doubt, for everyone to see, once and for all.
The particular source of Covid-19 may never be disclosed to the public, but it can be stated, in September, 2020, with dreadful certainty, that the current pandemic is entirely the result of human choice, guided by human evil. The capitalist leaders of the world have chosen, from the beginning, and for a host of baleful, underhanded reasons, to deliberately permit the virus to spread, utterly failing in their duty to take the necessary measures that might have prevented the open-ended nightmare of mass infection in which we now are trapped.
The undeniable intention of capitalism is to further its own heedless self-interest, not to further the well-being of its willing slaves. Within its vicious framework, human beings are always regarded as disposable, of value only to the crude extent that they can be harshly exploited for capitalist gain. Because those who hold wealth and power are morally defective in their judgment, and completely lacking in fundamental compassion, they have given nearly free rein to Covid-19, calmly watching from afar as the rest of us suffer.
It is unfortunate that, during a pandemic, so many citizens have been brainwashed into supporting the abominable purpose of their depraved masters. Those citizens have been tricked into acting against their own safety: becoming the unwitting prey of their own weakness, refusing to accept any restraints on their usual activities, and even rejecting the overwhelming proof of the virus itself. By doing so, they endanger their own lives and make it easier for their hardhearted oppressors to steer them in an unwholesome direction.
In 2020, a line has been crossed, and a reckless course has been set toward an ugly outcome. Our worthless leaders may foolishly imagine that they can "control" the extensive damage caused by the unholy mess into which they have plunged us, while conspiring to twist it into a lucrative opportunity for themselves, but as they will find, they are wrong. It is merely a matter of time, quite probably sooner rather than later, until they, too, are finally overcome by the wretched conditions that their ruthless policies have spawned.
