The War in Ukraine Is Not What It Appears to Be
When Russian forces, directed by Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, moved into Ukraine on February 24, 2022, people in the West (in particular, excitable liberals who are given to casual expressions of glaring hypocrisy) were suitably appalled. It was as if a situation in which one nation wrongly chooses to take violent action against another nation was something that had never happened before, in the entire history of the world. The two times that the United States wrongly chose to take violent action against Iraq (in 1991 and 2003), for example, had apparently been completely forgotten by nearly everyone.
With most outlets of Western media serving as unashamed purveyors of warmongering propaganda, supplied by the United States and NATO, dishonesty has been the main element in shaping the general impression of the Ukrainian conflict, as dutifully conveyed to the unquestioning minds of Western citizens, but any person with an ability to see things more clearly will be strongly inclined to conclude that the war in Ukraine is not what it appears to be. It seems that all information regarding the war is of unreliable quality, and therefore is necessarily subject to being vigorously challenged.
As presented by Joe Biden, President of the United States, with eager support from the European leaders of NATO, Putin's assault on Ukraine is a singular instance of villainy, a monstrous act that demands to be thoroughly condemned by anyone who holds a belief in the hallowed principles of "freedom and democracy." How President Biden and those European leaders, who have never credibly evidenced any greater degree of dedication to "freedom and democracy" than their supposed enemy, Vladimir Putin, can feign to hold such a belief themselves, with a straight face, defies all explanation.
The cloud of dense falsehood and clumsy deception that surrounds Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, is a warning sign that the story being told about the war is, at best, deeply suspect. Although Zelenskyy is constantly held up in the West as someone to be trusted and esteemed, the baleful truth is that he has openly formed alliances with neo-Nazi organizations, and therefore betokens the worst kind of evil. Volodymyr Zelenskyy is a smooth-tongued fraudster, a wily self-promoter who has proven himself to be an able servant of capitalist interests.
As to the character of the so-called war in Ukraine itself, it is undoubtedly a brutal tragedy of coldblooded violence and wholesale destruction, with many people on both sides being killed or injured, but the true motives behind it are not as readily apparent. Apart from the untoward intentions (whatever they might be) of Vladimir Putin, which are beyond dispute, it is likely that President Biden's longtime connection to shady dealings in Ukraine has been an essential part of the equation. Out of the public eye, Biden has been heavily involved in steering the course of Ukraine's corrupt government for a number of years.
If Putin's goal is to conquer Ukraine, why has he, so far, failed to accomplish that goal? Are Russian forces, which presumably are mighty enough to stand firm against the forces of the United States and NATO, not sufficient in this case? Already, the war in Ukraine has dragged on for more than a month, causing grievous damage to life and property, with no victory in sight for either side. It is hard to avoid the feeling that the war is being staged for effect, purposely being drawn out to keep people from looking at other problems in the world (such as the increasingly dangerous spread of Covid-19).
To a concerned observer, seeking to discern the actual import of the war in Ukraine is a matter of guesswork. It could be a rash play for advantage in a capitalist battle of nerves. It could be a desperate attempt to distract people from the horror of a pandemic that has been grossly mishandled. It could be a foolish error that will result in a nuclear Armageddon. It could be any of those things, or none of them. What is certain is that, unless reason prevails, the men, women, and children of Ukraine will continue to suffer greatly at the hands of Putin, Zelenskyy, Biden, and NATO.
