April 2022: The Pandemic Surges Again

Once again, in April, 2022, the pandemic of Covid-19 has started to surge, rising and swelling around us, bringing yet another wave of unbridled harm to a weary world. Having already been through surge after surge, we must now contend with one more round of horror. Meanwhile, as always, our heedless leaders continue to lie, continue to suppress data, continue to be brazenly negligent, continue to be unforgivably fixed in their refusal to take any of the necessary actions that would contain the virus and reduce its fatal strength.

Most Western governments surrendered to the pandemic in early 2022, when they chose to lift the few superficial measures of public safety that were still being enforced. In the United States, President Joe Biden witlessly stuck with his gruesome policy of allowing many thousands to perish from Covid-19, a policy that, when examined within a moral context, can only be seen as a stark instance of mass murder. Throughout the world, citizens were blithely told by callous authorities that infection was unavoidable, and therefore everyone would have to learn to "live with the virus."

Because most people are easily deceived, they quickly accepted the illusory view of Covid-19 that has been unceasingly promoted by our capitalist rulers since the beginning, but they were gravely mistaken in that acceptance. Now, after being told again, by the practiced hucksters who are leading us toward extinction, that the pandemic was over and our lives would soon return to "normal," we are being overwhelmed by a relentless virus whose current power of contagion is much faster and much stronger than its antecedents.

Although many credible voices of science had repeatedly warned that dropping our guard and giving free reign to BA.2, the current variant of Covid-19, would inevitably have heinous results, nearly all figures of leadership in Western nations stubbornly dismissed those warnings, preferring to pursue their apparent aim of maintaining an immovable stand of barefaced denial in regard to the ongoing threat posed by the virus. Instead of trying to do what clearly should be done, those in leadership have done nothing.

We have been pushed into an endless cycle of surges, a permanent state of worldwide infection, a constantly dangerous plight in which no activity is safe and no sphere of experience is spared, while our leaders encourage us to pretend that the pandemic is not actually happening. It is an unsustainable situation, a ruinous scourge that is certain to get hideously worse unless deliberate action is urgently taken to stop the uncontrolled spread of the virus. Our leaders have turned away, abandoning us and openly shunning their sworn duties, so it seems that we must attempt to save ourselves.

All of this bodes extremely ill for the destiny of mankind. It appears that we have burned all our bridges behind us, and can never go back to the life that we took for granted before Covid-19 launched its formidable assault. Time is steadily passing and the hour is growing late. How many more surges can humanity survive? How much more needless suffering must be endured, until it is finally enough and the lesson is learned? How long until we, as a species, run out of luck and find ourselves with nowhere to hide from the virus?
