Why Are Western Liberals So Eager to Support Nazis in Ukraine?

One of the most telling results of Vladimir Putin's condemnable decision to invade Ukraine in February, 2022, has been the repugnant sight of Western liberals falling over themselves to express wholehearted support for Ukranian Nazis who are, in liberal eyes, "defending their homeland." Many Western liberals have gone even further, to the irrational extreme of actually denying the well-known activities of neo-Nazi militias within the borders of Ukraine, activities that are brazen and murderous.

Why are Western liberals so eager to support Nazis in Ukraine? Much of the wrongheaded "support for Ukraine" that currently prevails among liberals is due to the mentality of the herd, in which people quickly follow a mass opinion without thinking, and without looking closely at a given situation. Once they have collectively taken their ill-considered stand, there is no turning back. No amount of truth or reason can reach them. Nothing that they might see or hear can shake them out of their adamant delusion.

The shaky foundation for Western liberal support of Nazi activities in Ukraine is the baseless belief that Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, is a "courageous leader" who will lead his people to victory, thereby ensuring a bright future of "freedom and democracy" for Ukranian citizens. The truth, of course, is that President Zelenskyy is a con man, a common grifter who has deftly enriched himself by playing both ends against the middle, but liberals are willfully blind to that unappealing truth.

Western liberals who seethe with animosity toward right-wing figures such as Donald Trump, Boris Johnson, and Marine Le Pen seem quite ready to endorse the vicious killings that have been carried out by the fascist, antisemetic members of the Azov Battalion, an infamous gang of neo-Nazi brutes allied to President Zelenskyy. Those liberals are mistakenly relying on their own faulty moral sensibility: a distinctly unreliable sensibility whose quality is seriously tainted by hypocrisy and dishonesty.

As the war in Ukraine drags onward, most Western liberals will lose interest, carelessly shifting their childish fancy to other things, but the people of Ukraine will still be mired in abject suffering, and will still be subject to violent abuse at the hands of Russian invaders. Meanwhile, the neo-Nazi element within Ukraine will grow and become bolder, achieving greater power, until it has finally established itself (with shameful assistance from the United States and NATO) as an unchallenged force of evil.
