Pandemic 2023: A Permanent Hell of Runaway Contagion

After three years, the pandemic of Covid-19 has become, in 2023, a permanent hell of runaway contagion, an unrelenting horror in which millions of people are continually suffering from serious illness, and millions of others have been killed, directly or indirectly, by a savage virus that is spreading without any hindrance whatsoever. Our current state can be judged, fairly and depressingly, as being extremely shaky, and steadily getting more shaky from one day to the next. We are provoking a gruesome fate for ourselves, as we are hurried on our way by the execrable capitalists who seek to derive wealth from our numb descent into the mindless realm of dangerous passivity.

Most of the governments in the world have conspired to hide and deny the harm being done by Covid-19, with most scientists and doctors choosing to support, and actively enable, the conspiracy. Citizens in nearly every nation on earth have been heavily deceived by their leaders in regard to the virus and its fatal potential, given heinous lies instead of the straight truth from the start of the pandemic, and now, as a result, few citizens have a clear, correct understanding of what is happening. The complete extent of the damage, the huge amount of illness and the enormous number of human lives that have been recklessly lost, has been covered up and dismissed.

Covid-19 is difficult to avoid in 2023. No one can be fully safe in any situation that puts them close to other people, particularly when masks are not worn. Every public space in which humans regularly gather is filled with the virus: stores, schools, libraries, churches, museums, hospitals, restaurants, cinemas, airports. People are taking a blind gamble with their own future, casually exchanging loathsome infections with one another. They imagine that they are in total control of their destiny, relying on what they believe to be a boundless supply of luck, but they are certain to find, sooner or later, that their luck is not quite as boundless as they have blithely presumed it to be.

The citizens of the United States have been summarily told by their President, Joe Biden, that "the pandemic is over," in barefaced defiance of the alarming signs otherwise. He has also instructed them that masks are no longer necessary, and that vaccines will keep them from being infected. (In spite of it being uncomfortably evident that available vaccines are not effective at blocking infection.) Most Americans are acting as if there is no threat, no reason to exercise caution, and no need to worry, which is why masses of them are constantly sick, and many hundreds of them are expiring from the effects of Covid-19 in a daily cycle of excess mortality. It is absolute, unbridled madness.

President Biden's administration has sought to suppress all awareness of the pandemic and to cancel all discussion of the virus, thereby leaving Americans at a frightening disadvantage, with no reliable guidance from the CDC, no useful information about new variants, and no up-to-date reporting of cases. In the meantime, the virus has never abated or paused in its determined course, and is still tirelessly working to undermine our collective health, while the measures that we need to take, to preserve our fundamental safety, are not being taken. Refusing to take those measures, and stubbornly clinging to ruthless policies of expedient deception, will bring our defeat.

Taking all of this into account, it is difficult for a rational person to consider the likely end toward which we are heading without being seized by cold despair. It seems that far too many people have stopped looking, stopped thinking, and, most grievous of all, stopped caring. How can we hope to survive under such wretched conditions? We have plunged into a period of deep bleakness, a period that is increasingly bereft of general morality and common integrity. It is hard to conceive that, as things stand, we can ever succeed in moving beyond the curse of Covid-19. The virus itself will destroy our bodies, and the dishonesty that empowers the virus will destroy our souls.
