The Human Community Has Fatally Lost Its Balance
A quarter of the way into the 21st century, it is becoming undeniably apparent that we are now speeding toward a final stage of total destruction. A brief examination is enough to easily confirm that the human community has fatally lost its balance. The world of 2025 is increasingly beset by the baleful forces of war, genocide, disease, technology, greed, deceit, corruption, and hypocrisy, with a host of heinous conditions swiftly worsening from one day to the next.
Two particular instances of unspeakable evil provide undeniable evidence of our collective descent into a hell of our own making. The first instance is the overtly deliberate spread of airborne contagion that has propelled the current pandemic of Covid-19 since March, 2020, causing at least 27 million people to perish worldwide. The second instance is the wholesale slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza carried out by Israel since October, 2023, with tens of thousands of helpless civilians being wantonly murdered.
The monstrous evil displayed in both of those cases is manifest to an unmistakable degree, representing a dreadful watershed in human affairs. Such evil proves, beyond question, that merely being passively human is not sufficient in itself, because when faced with purposeful wickness, being passively human is not equivalent to actually possessing a necessary element of active humanity. If we passively concur with the advance of evil, we betray the framework of goodwill that is vital to all mankind.
Common morality has been tossed aside, heedlessly discarded in shameful preference to a malign outlook of pure selfishness, with the stark difference between right and wrong accorded no consideration. Thoughtlessly doing only as one pleases, in all situations, regardless of any potential harm to others that might result, has become the prevailing mode of conduct. Fundamental values are casually scorned and offhandedly rejected, and the remorseless tyranny of convenience reigns unchallenged.
Across the entire range of human activities, integrity has sharply declined and standards have harshly fallen, giving rise to an ongoing assault of haphazard policies that encourage recklessness and promote negligence. The foul weasels who pose as our leaders are, in truth, our worst enemies: a brazen gang of unrepentant crooks, constantly on the make and thoroughly devoid of ethics or principles, who judge the lives of their supporters to be utterly disposable.
Within the dark, abominable realm of politics, nearly every Western nation has witnessed an overwhelming wave of fascist animosity coming to the fore, gaining the upper hand after decades of stale, hollow, weak-kneed liberalism. Reasoned discourse has been banished from the public sphere, leaving an enormous space that has been clumsily filled by a continual outpouring of heavy-handed propaganda and mindless slogans, intended to keep the masses trapped in a pliant state of blank distraction.
In 2025, democracy is nothing more than a transparent hoax, signifying the triumph of falsehood. Governments are fully aligned with the capitalist demands of their corporate masters, and no longer feel constrained to even pretend to be upholding the interests of their citizens. Self-serving billionaires such as Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Bill Gates are a law unto themselves, ruling by proxy and exercising far greater power than any authorities chosen through fraudulent elections.
Mankind is foreclosing any presumption of a stable, beneficial future by following a brutal path of unbridled capitalism, a path that will lead to an outcome of irrevocable ruin. With raw avarice as the primary motive in every human undertaking, the mainstream of life is reduced to a harrowing welter of cut-throat motives and savage actions, in which those who are unable to contend for survival, who lack the ability to strive and struggle, cannot hope to endure.
Uncontrolled Covid-19 is steadily breaking down the bulwark of human immunity, heavy damage to the environment is expanding beyond the bounds of safety, and a major conflict involving nuclear weapons is more likely than ever. Can it be doubted that our luck is running dangerously short? When every decision is framed by a ruthless desire for wealth, as is the practice in the depraved hothouse of capitalist dealings, sanity and logic are quickly abandoned, and prudence has no sway.
As human progress falters, and then ceases, the lives of countless millions will be thrown into frantic jeopardy. Many will desperately cling to an irrational mentality of threadbare denial, but will soon find that their wretched fantasies are of no avail. Business as usual means an unsustainable habit of repeating gross errors, putting mankind at a grievous disadvantage, with few opportunities to stave off the adverse effects wrought by years of capitalist villainy.
The more we allow our prospects to degrade, the further we move away from any chance of salvation. If we do not take measures to change our course, renouncing the violence and cupidity that has pushed us to the brink of desolation, a furious reckoning will arrive, and the human story will inevitably have a bleak ending. To defer or delay in seeking a reformation is unacceptable. We must repent of our willfulness, urgently and definitively, or everything will be lost.
Most people have closed their eyes to the uncomfortable import of what is happening around them. They remain unconcerned, and do not respond in the stalwart manner that is clearly required. Instead, they act foolishly, bent on blindly, and cravenly, pursuing their regular patterns of empty delusion. By doing so, they are unwittingly sealing their doom, hastening the alarming certainty of a general downfall that will bring them to a woeful fate of bitter suffering.
