Mr. and Mrs. Mouse

Mr. and Mrs. Mouse were two mice who lived on the edge of a spacious meadow, in a snug cottage built by Mr. Mouse himself.

They were a happy couple who had been together for many years.

The inside of their cottage was kept neat and tidy, with everything where it should properly be.

Behind their cottage, they had a bountiful garden filled with a well-chosen array of vegetables and flowers, which they dutifully tended all year round.

Mr. Mouse took deep pride in his tomatoes, nurturing them with care, and Mrs. Mouse was fully dedicated to her roses.

They spent their days in a loving manner, always being kind, gentle, and thoughtful toward each other.

Mr. Mouse enjoyed reading books about history and listening to recordings of Italian operas.

He was also fond of flying homemade kites on windy days.

His kites were designed to fly higher than other kites.

Mrs. Mouse, who was greatly interested in art, liked to draw and paint.

She also liked to spend time in her kitchen, making good things to eat.

Her speciality as a cook was baking a batch of delicious pumpkin scones, made from her own recipe.

In the evenings, after the busyness of the day, they sat in comfortable armchairs and sipped hot tea from china cups.

Although Mr. and Mrs. Mouse had no children of their own, they did have several nephews and nieces who regularly visited.

Mr. Mouse would entertain his nephews and nieces by telling exciting tales of his daring escapes from mousetraps.

In early spring, when the weather was fresh and fine, Mr. and Mrs. Mouse went for long rambles in the open air, keeping a watchful eye for any cats.

On sunny afternoons in the summer, they would sit in the quiet shade of a tall tree and have a picnic.

When the leaves of autumn began to fall from branches and the evenings turned chilly, they huddled together in front of their hearth.

During the coldest days of winter, when snow covered the ground, they both wore woolen scarves and woolen mittens that Mrs. Mouse had knitted.

On nights when the sky was clear, they stood outside and turned their eyes upward, observing the distant beauty of the planets and the stars.

Most of all, in every season and during every hour of the day, they took delight in sharing their lives as husband and wife.

They were mouse and mouse, spouse and spouse, closely joined in a life of steadfast harmony.
